Mother of the Bride? is the comic investigation of a
trans-gender (female to male) groom and his cisgender bride at a wedding in Cape May, New Jersey. The story revolves around the couple and their families that are from different worlds leading to conflicts in planning the wedding, secrets being reveled, and high emotions. Mother of the Bride? examines that not all relationships are cookie-cutter. Society, media, and our culture have created an image of romance and love. As a result, the idealizations of love and marriage have left people feeling alienated, inadequate, and incomplete. Our expectations of love and romance are extremely high, and often leave people broken hearted. George Sand once said, “There is only one happiness in this life, to love, and to be loved.”
